John and the Apple Tree — A Lesson in Effort
There once lived a boy named John, known across the whole town for being incredibly lazy. He didn’t like to study, didn’t help around the house, and certainly didn’t enjoy doing anything that required effort. If there was an easier way — or better yet, no way at all — John would always choose that.
One warm afternoon, John was strolling through his backyard when he spotted something delightful — their tall apple tree was full of bright, shiny red apples, swaying gently in the breeze. They looked juicy and sweet, and his mouth instantly began to water.
But climbing the tree? Too much work.
So, John did what only John would do — he lay down lazily on the grass beneath the tree, hands behind his head, and thought, “I’ll just wait here… one of those apples will fall eventually.”
Minutes passed. Then hours. The sun moved across the sky. His stomach grumbled louder and louder. But not a single apple dropped.
Still, John refused to move.
By evening, he was not only tired but terribly hungry. The apples were still on the tree — untouched — and John had nothing to eat. That day, his laziness left him empty-handed and even hungrier than before.
Moral of the story: Wishing won’t bring results. If you want something, you have to get up and work for it. Laziness might seem easy in the moment, but in the end, it leaves you with nothing.
