The Ant and the Grasshopper
One bright summer morning, an ant was hard at work. He marched back and forth, carrying tiny crumbs and storing them carefully in his little underground home. Day after day, he toiled — collecting, storing, preparing. His mind was focused on one thing: winter.
Nearby, his friend the grasshopper was having the time of his life. He lay on the grass, playing his fiddle and singing cheerful songs under the sun. He watched the ant and laughed, “Why do you work so hard? Come enjoy the sunshine! There’s plenty of time!”
The ant simply smiled and replied, “Winter doesn’t wait. I’d rather be ready than regretful.”
And so the days passed — the ant kept working, and the grasshopper kept playing.
Then came winter. The winds howled, the ground froze, and snow blanketed the world. The once-lush fields were empty and cold.
The ant stayed warm in his snug little home, surrounded by food he had carefully gathered.
But the grasshopper? He had nothing. No food, no shelter, just bitter cold and an empty belly. Shivering, he remembered the ant’s words — and wished he had listened.
Moral of the story: Always plan ahead and be prepared. Life won’t always be easy, so take care of your needs while you can.
